3.30 - 4.30pm Working in Groups

  1. Marilyn Palmer (ECU Bunbury Campus Community Garden and Community Practice Educator)

  2. Sandra Krempl (Trillion Trees)

  3. Emma and David Vosnacos (North Perth Community Garden)

  4. Speaker on Networks (TBC)

The following were observations from this session:

The difficulty of managing groups and the level of governance required to run a community garden were prominent in the thinking.

North Perth CG has some templates which we may be able to share in!

It would be good to further expand on ‘group energy’ and ‘how to keep the momentum going’. Equally, the value of educational workshops and increasing these.

The connection between spirituality and community gardens, having a tidy HQ and the shared and varying levels of knowledge in the room, all stood out as interesting.

ABOUT US
The WA Community Garden Network (WACGN) is an informal network of WA community gardens and their supporters. Established in 2004, the network has played a significant role in bringing together people involved in community gardens to share ideas and skills, work collaboratively and provide a voice for the community garden sector in WA.

The WA Community Garden Gathering 2018 Committee first met in May 2017 in North Perth. The Committee meets regularly (every 2 weeks) with three working groups; Planning, Engagement and Strategic Direction, busily working to bring to fruition an event with a difference. Our meetings often run late into the night as we discuss, debate and imagine this event together. We are excited and hope you will be too!
